The man handed a stick to each family member and asked his eldest son to grasp his stick with both hands, one at each end. He then instructed his yougest son to break the stick which he did with ease. He the instructed the youngest son to hold his stick in the same manner and had the eldest break it. He and his wife did the same. He picked up the 4 sticks at his feet and handed each member of his family another stick. He asked that every member of the family hand their sticks to his wife and when she had them she was to hold the 4 out together as she did the single one before. The man asked his sons to break the sticks she held out in front of her. Neither could break them. The sticks were given to the eldest son and again noone could break them. In the end the father held the 4 unbroken sticks and explained that the sticks represented their family. Alone any one of them could be broken, but together they could not be broken. Together they can withstand the strikes from life and emerge unbroken.”
Douglas Vandergraph continued, “We need to remember that you can tell everything you ever wanted to know about a man by looking at his family, because a man will put his time and his money where his heart is. There is noone in your life that wants to see you succeed more than your family. Not your work buddies, your bff, noone. So if your family is your biggest fan base, then there too should your loyalties lie. Spend time with your kids and your wife. Take chances as a team and start a business. Do everything together and your life will change for the positive faster than you ever imagined it could. Lastly, our school system teaches kids how to count money and how to save money. It is up to you to teach your kids how to make money. Keep in mind that 97% of the population is blowing it. 3% of the population makes 97% of the money there is to be made. Careful who you follow and look up to, because your kids and spouse are looking up to you and who you become reflects on them. Every once and a while my kids will quote Bob Proctor, zig zigglar, or some other positive motivational speaker. Fill your time and mind with good positive messages. It will change you and your family as a result.”
